| Germany | 4 | : | 1 | England | | - |
They say the bigger you are, the harder you fall. England's Three Lions went into battle with Germany's DFB-eleven on Free State Stadium, under the guidance of Fabio Capello. The two teams stepped up and displayed magnificent football, Germany though seemed to have the better part of it. Then came Klose, who struck it first past James making it 1-0 at the twentieth minute. Podolski struck second at 32' making it 2-0. Five minutes later, a header from Matthew Upson pulled one back for England at the 37' minute. A few minutes later, Frank Lampard genuinely nailed it in what would have made it 2-2 before half time, but the ball went in and bounced back making the match official rule it out. This brought back the much heated debate of 'goal line technology' which FIFA President Blatter refused to adopt into this historic world cup. IT'S TIME BLATTER!! England again had many chances with other kissing the woodwork. The second half came and things turned for the worst to England when at the 67' minute Thomas Muiller netted in and did it again after three minutes at the 70' minute, making it 4-1. The defence was surely missing Rio Ferdinand, with massive rat-routes witnessed. The clock wound down on England, as the great David Beckham watched helplessly. It's our world cup, a historic world cup.
